Mailing Lists, NewsGroups, and Chatrooms

  • NHLNet is aimed at members of the NHL and other people interested in harmonica matters and events mainly in the UK and Europe. It is not an alternative to the very popular Harp-L. To join, send an email to NHLNet-subscribe@yahoogroups.com giving a brief reason for joining.
  • Harp-L is a mailing list covers all areas of interest but is mainly concerned with diatonic.
  • Slidemeister ia a web based forum for chromatic, bass and chord harmonica players.
  • Harp Talk is a mailing list run by Coast to Coast Music. The archives can be viewed at the same url. Quite active for general discussions between harmonica players.
  • HarpChat.de is an active mailing list with German as the main language.
  • Blues-L is a busy mailing list with a newsgroup mirror, bit.listserv.blues-l, for the discussion of blues music and performers, from Charley Patton and Bessie Smith to Robert Cray and Stevie Ray Vaughan. To subscribe, send the following message to: listserv@brownvm.brown.edu, subscribe blues-l FirstName LastName . No subject is required.
  • PreWarBlues is a moderated mailing list for discussing the lives and music of the well-known and not-so-well-known blues (and jugband and ragtime) musicians. To join the list send the following message to majordomo@lists.spunge.org , subscribe prewarblues your first name your second name

  • There are two harmonica newsgroups available on most news servers. One in English and the other in Chinese. Others cover blues.

  • Harmonica World - the magazine published by the National Harmonica League.
  • Planet Harmonica - Ben Felten's informative harmonica ezine, with a French feel. There is an English and a French version. All editions are archived. He now has a Blog where he collects harmonica events, thoughts, and observations as they happen.

Radio and Internet Broadcasts

  • JazzFM has a great three hour blues program, Jazz Me Blues, of records and interviews on Saturday mornings 10am to 1pm GMT, hosted by Paul Jones. It goes out live on the Internet.
