Paul has had a long connection with the NHL. He was made an honorary member of the NHL in 1979, he was interviewed by Steve Jennings for Harmonica World in 1990, he was awarded the St Paul Trophy by the NHL in 1993 for services to the harmonica world, and he was interviewed by Con O'Neil for Harmonica World again in 1999.
