Course Details

Alderbrook School is a great venue, and this year we welcome back Jazz professional Adam Glasser teaching (guess what?)- Jazz - with David Wright building on the Easy Improvisation articles he has written for this magazine. Keyboard maestro Chris Collis will run Playing with a Band, with other accompanists, and we will have a full professional amplification system. (1000watts should be enough!)

Gerry Ezard (can't seem to get rid of him) will cover Classical, Standards and Ensemble Playing, and Folk expert and harmonica guru Mat Walklate will coach you in playing Folk Music on the Sunday. All the tutors will give tips on improving playing technique, and there will be a Saturday evening concert where everyone will be encouraged to play their stuff.

A CD with 31 tracks and an accompanying booklet of music has been prepared and is being sent out - thanks to David Wright and Steve Dooley for a professional production. The music covers Jazz standards, Latin, Classical and Folk; some of the tunes selected are suitable for beginners, whilst at the other end of the spectrum we have something to challenge our most experienced players! All players will receive this material as part of the course, suitable for music readers and ear players.

This year we also have a recommended hotel, at reasonable rates, where we can congregate in the bar on the Saturday night, and from where we can arrange lifts for those without cars. There are also local B&Bs. Details will be supplied with joining instructions.

Reserve your place soon, the price for the weekend is only £80 which represents amazing value (excluding accommodation and meals).

Music and CDs will be sent out at the end of March, so we need to know numbers soon.

To book send a cheque or make a payment to NHL by PayPal for £80 and a note to:
