A day of workshops dedicated to blues harp tuitionThe Red Lion, June 17th, 10 am - 11 pmThe workshops will be structured for the benefit of players ranging from beginner through to intermediate level and will cover a range of subjects, to include: help and guidance for beginners, developing tone and technique, improvisation, playing with a band, using amplification, practising tips, etc. The teaching team will be Laurie Garman of the 'City Shakers', formally of the legendary 'Yardbirds', Paul Gillings of the 'Feelgood Factor' and former World Diatonic Blues Harp Champion, Rob Venables of the 'Bluestate Blues Band',Tony Stokes of the '58 De Luxe Blues Band' and 'Paul Cowley and the T.T.’s', and Pete Wheat , accoustic player and performer: all experienced players, performers, and qualified harmonica teachers. In addition, the teachers will be there to offer help and advice to individuals whose particular concerns are not fully covered in the workshops. So before you come, identify your personal goals, ask what you would like to learn or achieve on the day. This event also gives you the chance to spend a day in the company of other players and enthusiasts, learning from each other. After an evening break we will be joined by the '58 De Luxe' Chicago style blues band , hired especially for the occasion, who will host a jam session, giving everyone the opportunity of playing with a band. So why not join us for what promises to be a rewarding and enjoyable experience? Go for it!

DirectionsThe venue is best approached via the M42 motorway..( You are strongly advised to avoid driving through Birmingham city centre, unless of course you know Birmingham well). Leave junction 5 of the M42 and follow the signs for the A4141 Knowle. (A41 Warwick). Continue to the roundabout and take the second exit, staying on the A4141. Continue up the hill ,past the Wilson’s Arms pub on the left, entering the village of Knowle. Drive along to the end of the High Street, and The Red Lion is on the corner on the right opposite the church, about 50 yds past the zebra crossing. There is ample parking at the rear of the pub. The entrance to the pub car park is on the left hand side of the pub.If using public transport, go to Moor St. railway station, which is only a short walk from New St. Station and well sign posted, and take the local train for Dorridge. (Journey time approx. 15 mins). At Dorridge take the number 40A bus to Knowle High Street (Journey time approx. 10 mins) Map
